Indeed, capitalism has many definitions, and will probably always be a source of confusion, much like the idea of the free market. As you say capitalism doesn’t exist in America, I say the free market doesn’t exist at all. It’s a myth. While it is certainly true that Americans and other nations have thrived in many ways by operating under the delusion of the free market, for those who wish to take in the bigger picture, we can see that developing the so-called “free” market comes as a great cost to both the environment and the rest of the society. The challenge with those who are religiously capitalist is that their obsession with capital doesn’t allow them to see that.
